Christian Formation Classes- (Sunday School)
It always amazes me, the impact of a child’s voice. From squeals of laughter to the hilarity of an obvious failed attempt at whispering, to the notes of sadness- these sounds often seem to cut through the air. In our own church family, we can often hear these small voices in the echoes of responses and in the words of the Lord’s Prayer- and they add something indescribably beautiful. Children are not just the future of our church; they are an essential part of our church family today. Because of this, it is important for us to provide our children with opportunities to grow in their faith, relationship with Christ, and love for others. Right now, there are brightly colored activity bags available at the entrance of the church (currently near the service bulletins). Inside you’ll find crayons, a coloring page, and an activity bulletin that corresponds with the weekly readings. Children are welcome to finish their coloring pages at home and are invited to email a picture of their completed coloring page to be shared in future newsletters/on the St. Ignatius Facebook page. On the first Sunday of Lent, we are planning on beginning a between-Mass program at 9AM, to take place during the Lenten Adult Formation. These will provide children with an opportunity to learn about the theme of the readings for the week through stories, lessons, and song. Over time, this program will be adjusted to best fit the needs of the families in our church. Finally, I would like to add that there have been some incredible youth activities in the past years at St. Ignatius and I know that many parishioners have their own wonderful ideas- we would love to hear your suggestions and we also hope you will consider participating (as a family or volunteer) as we move forward and continue to grow in faith and fellowship. -Libby Deischel |
